Canadian digital investigation software company ‘Magnet Forensics’ acquires Tracks Inspector Technology

Magnet Forensics, a global leader in developing digital investigation software for smartphone, cloud and computer examinations, announced its acquisition of 'Tracks Inspector' from Tracks Inspector BV, a software company based at the HSD Campus in The Hague.

With the acquisition of the Tracks Inspector solution, Magnet Forensics adds a robust review platform for non-technical stakeholders of law enforcement investigations to its product portfolio. The Tracks Inspector product is an intuitive, web-based solution that puts digital investigations into the hands of detectives who have knowledge of the case but aren’t necessarily digital forensics specialists. It enables investigators to conduct an early case assessment and identify the data and devices relevant to the case. This approach enables the forensic unit to focus on targeted forensic analysis. Ultimately, this workflow allows investigators to review digital evidence faster while freeing up the digital forensic units to work on the greatest technical challenges. In the coming months, the Tracks Inspector solution will join the Magnet Forensics portfolio under the new name Magnet REVIEW™.

European headquarter in The Hague

The office of Magnet Forensics Europe will be located at the HSD Campus in The Hague, the current homebase of HSD partner Tracks Inspector BV. This office will become Magnet Forensics’ new European headquarters, including a technical department providing new jobs in the near future. “With customers, sales teams and reseller partners all over Europe, we’re excited to be part of the HSD Campus and make this dynamic space our new corporate headquarters in Europe”, says Adam Belsher, CEO, Magnet Forensics. “We couldn’t be more pleased to be in the Hague, and benefit from the proximity it provides to our customers and partners”.

Jad Saliba, Founder & CTO of Magnet Forensics: “We’re incredibly excited to welcome the Tracks Inspector team to the Magnet Forensics family. We have a shared vision of finding new ways to help law enforcement do their job more efficiently and effectively. With the addition of Magnet REVIEW, we look forward to helping police departments get through their evidence faster and with greater collaboration.”

Hans Henseler, CEO and Co-Founder of Tracks Inspector B.V. : “Today, digital forensics laboratories alone can no longer manage the sheer volume of digital evidence in criminal cases. The backlog of caseloads from law enforcement agencies has grown from weeks to months worldwide. Tracks Inspector was built to help agencies decrease that backlog and improve collaboration across the team. We are pleased to be joining the Magnet Forensics team and look forward to continuing to deliver a common review platform.”

Cyber Agent Technology & Sweetie 2.0

As a result of the acquisition, the part of Tracks Inspector BV that is currently involved with the SBIR Innovation project Cyber Agent Technology (CAT) and participates in Sweetie 2.0, will continue their activities under a new name: ‘Volto Labs B.V.’ As an active HSD network partner since 2014, they will remain based at the HSD Campus in The Hague. The organisation will be led by Rens de Wolf, COO and Co-Founder of Tracks Inspector BV.
