Netherlands ranks Top 15 in ITU Global Cyber Security Index 2017

ITU, the United Nations specialised agency for information and communication technology, has published the Global Cyber Security Index 2017 (GCI-2017), which measures the commitment of ITU's 193 Member States to cyber security and is the second in this index series.

IRM Systems secures capital to develop ‘IRM Smart Pipeline Data’ and accelerate international growth

InnovationQuarter invests in innovations for the Greenport sector

Regional development agency InnovationQuarter is using its investment funds, IQCapital and UNIIQ, to invest in three West Holland companies whose innovations have a social impact in the agriculture and horticulture sectors. With this capital injection, Condi Food (technology for measuring the taste and freshness of food products), Longbloom (preservation of flowers with CO2 'waste') and Oxy-Low (preservation of product quality using biological insect treatment methods) can take the next steps in their development.

Family-owned company Oxy-Low receives growth capital for environmentally friendly pest control solutions

The degradation of food products by insects causes major losses to farmers, traders, manufacturers, exporters and importers. Oxy-Low serves the global market with biological pest control solutions that are not harmful to people and the environment and which help preserve product quality. The company has received growth capital from InnovationQuarter to diversify its international product portfolio. King’s Commissioner for the province of Zuid-Holland Jaap Smit announced the investment on 29 June at the ERIAFF conference in The Hague.

A Green Deal for the Dutch Windwheel 2.0

On 29 June, the Windwheel Corporation presented its new designs for the Dutch Windwheel, the icon of technological innovation that will raise the skyline of Rotterdam to a new aesthetic level. In addition to the presentation, a Green Deal was signed at the World Trade Center in Rotterdam by Minister Kamp, Provincial Executive member Bom-Lemstra (Province of Zuid-Holland) and Alderman Struijvenberg (Municipality of Rotterdam) which will increase the Dutch Windwheel’s chances of realisation.

VarmX raises seed capital for development of modified blood coagulation factor X

VarmX, a Dutch, Leiden based biotech company focusing on the development of therapies in the field of hemostasis and thrombosis, today announced the final closing of its seed financing round. New participants providing this seed capital are Dutch VC BioGeneration Ventures (BGV) and regional economic development agency InnovationQuarter. The funds will enable VarmX to advance its lead compound PseudoXa, a modified factor X as a safe and effective factor Xa inhibitor reversal agent.

West Holland 1 of Top 5 aerospace regions in the Netherlands

Last week, InnovationQuarter participated in the Holland Pavilion during the Paris Air Show. For the first time West Holland was promoted as one of the 5 aerospace hotspots in the Netherlands. At the fair, some 142,000 trade visitors were able to speak to over 2,380 exhibitors from 48 countries and some 140 aircraft were on display or in flight demonstration at Le Bourget airport, near Paris.

A soft landing for VSParticle in the California Bay Area

Last week, the moment had finally arrived for Delft nanotech startup VSParticle: the start of the Soft Landing Program by InnovationQuarter, Medical Delta and UC (Berkeley) CITRIS. Economic mission of the Province of Zuid-Holland to China

Mr. Jaap Smit, King’s Commissioner in the Province of Zuid-Holland, led an economic and trade mission to China from 4 June to 9 June 2017. InnovationQuarter, together with Dutch companies, research institutes and the Municipality of Westland - in total over 25 people - joined the mission.

The second edition of the TU Delft Research Exhibition – the largest scientific expo in the Netherlands – took place on the 6th, 7th and 8th of June 2017. After the positive response to the first Research Exhibition in 2014, this year’s edition was even larger, both in terms of the number of projects and the wide range of research groups and industries that were covered.

Invest in Holland at first GFIA in Europe

Invest in Holland, the collaborative acquisition network aimed at attracting foreign companies, took part in the first European edition of the Global Forum for Innovation in Agriculture (GFIA) in Utrecht on 9 and 10 May. This was the first time the international agricultural fair had been held in the Netherlands. Abu Dhabi had hosted the event for the past four years.
