Sustainable Building & Energy Systems trade mission to the Nordics

Does your SME company or scale-up offer energy-related technology in the field of sustainable construction and/or renovation? Does entering the Swedish and/or Danish market fit your business strategy?

On 13-17 June 2022 the Sustainable Building and Energy Systems trade mission to the Nordics took place. Ten Dutch companies active in various domains of the sustainable construction sector and/or urban energy systems were taken by InnovationQuarter, FME and RVO on a deep-dive into the opportunities for trade collaboration between the Netherlands and the Nordics.

Frontrunners in sustainable future

Both Sweden and Denmark have great ambitions when it comes to achieving energy-saving construction and renovations in the coming decades.

For example, Copenhagen has set itself the goal of becoming the world’s first carbon-neutral capital by 2025 and of completely eliminating the city’s 2 million tons of carbon footprint over a 10-year period. The Swedish construction sector aims to reduce emissions by 50% by 2030.

These ambitious goals require a significant investment in clean technologies. This offers opportunities for Dutch companies, as can also be read in this recent market report on Sustainable Building Opportunities in Sweden and Denmark.

Innovative countries joining forces

Denmark, Sweden and the Netherlands are often seen as frontrunners when it comes to working towards a sustainable future. Sustainable solutions for (re)creating the built environment and its supporting energy systems will contribute substantially to this goal.

Innovative countries joining forces offers fruitful ground for creating sustainable buildings and tackling the current challenges in the energy transition.

The past year and a half has shown that in both Denmark and Sweden there is a lot of interest in collaborating with Dutch technology providers. During this period, several (online) events took place where Dutch companies were brought into contact with a wide range of projects, potential partners and customers in both countries.
