InnovationQuarter signs Memorandum of Cooperation with Saga city, Japan

Yesterday InnovationQuarter signed a Memorandum of Cooperation with Saga City (Japan). This week a business delegation from Saga City is visiting the West Holland region. The two parties agreed to cooperate on and share information about business and technological opportunities in the field of Biobased Industry and especially in relation to Carbon Capture and Usage (CCU). The MoC was signed by the Mayor of Saga City, Mr. Tosiyuki Hideshima and by the executive Director of InnovationQuarter, Mr. Rinke Zonneveld and witnessed by, amongst others, the Japanese Ambassador in the Netherlands, Mr. Inomata.

This week, a Japanese business and government delegation from Saga City of about 25 persons is visiting the Netherlands. They especially came to the Netherlands and the West Holland region to explore cooperation on business and technology opportunities related to the Biobased industry, with a special interest in CCU technology. They have visited various companies to see how CO2 is being re-used, for example in the field of Horticulture.

As part of the visit, a business conference was organized by InnovationQuarter to match the Japanese delegation to relevant Dutch companies and institutes (Soliqz, PlantOne, Photanol, Brightlands/Chemelot, BLOC) in order to exchange ideas and explore future cooperations. The delegation took special interest in the advanced Dutch knowledge and expertise on Carbon Capture and Usage.

The conference took place in the World Trade Center in The Hague. Next to the Japanese delegation and Dutch companies in the field of CCU, several other organisations where present, such as the Japanese Embassy in the Netherlands, the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency, and the Municipality of Westland. During this seminar, the MOC between Saga City and InnovationQuarter was signed, as an official moment to kick off cooperation and information exchange between the two regions.

After the conference the Japanese delegation went off to visit the World Horticentre in Westland.
