Ties strengthened during inspiring and informative Dutch-Catalan Meetup

Last night, at the amazing venue of Cuatrecasas in Barcelona, we hosted the Dutch-Catalan Meetup, where we welcomed 80+ Dutch, Catalan and international guests. Dutch honorary consul Mr. Dirk Kremer opened the event with a speech in which he emphasized the strong eonomic ties between (West) Holland and Catalonia and business opportunities in both markets. After that, various great speakers inspired the audience with a discussion about the latest technology trends in artificial intelligence and (cyber)security.

X-Systems opens its new office at the HSD campus in The Hague

X-Systems, a cybersecurity company focused on mobile and IoT-security is expanding to The Hague Security Campus, near its main customers and at the heart of the Dutch security cluster. The relocation was announced at the Holland Pavilion during the first day of the Mobile World Congress on February 25th by Chris van Voorden, head of Foreign Investments at InnovationQuarter.

Four Motors of Europe visiting Rotterdam, Delft and Leiden

This week, InnovationQuarter and the Province of Zuid-Holland were delighted to host a large business delegation from Baden-Württemberg, Catalonia, Lombardy and Auvergne-Rôhne Alpes. These leading industrial regions have a 30-year-old partnership, called ‘Four Motors for Europe’. The ‘Four Motors’, led by Ms. Katrin Schütz (State Secretary of Economic Affairs, Labour and Housing for Baden-Württemberg), were looking forward to explore this question together with innovative companies and leading knowledge institutions in Zuid-Holland.

Dutch King opens Microsoft Quantum Lab on TU Delft campus

King Willem Alexander opened the Microsoft Quantum Lab on the campus of TU Delft. With the lab, Microsoft strengthens quantum research in Delft, a research area where TU Delft ranks among the world’s best. The QuTech Research Institute, a collaboration between TU Delft and TNO, is working with industry on the development of quantum computers and a quantum internet. Microsoft, which now has its own laboratory in Delft, is one of the most important companies that collaborates intensively with Delft quantum researchers

Gearbox receives investment of UNIIQ to develop an AI-driven grading robot for fruit and vegetables

Evaluating the quality of fresh produce is still a job mainly done by hand. Gearbox Innovations developed a grading robot that combines vision technology with Artificial Intelligence to evaluate the quality of up to 100% of passing fruit and vegetables. To bring the innovation to market, Gearbox receives an investment of € 300.000 of the regional investment fund UNIIQ. The news of the investment was announced by alderman Karin Zwinkels of the Municipality of Westland, during the Horti Heroes Master Track ‘How to Finance Innovation’ in the World Horti Center in Naaldwijk, the Netherlands.

Dawn Aerospace receives an IQCapital investment from InnovationQuarter. The New Space company enables sustainable, flexible and cost-effective launches of small satellites. InnovationQuarter joins a €2 million investment round in which several other European, New Zealand and US investors participate. The investment was announced by Adri Bom-Lemstra, Regional Minister for Economic Development & Innovation, during the first lustrum celebration of the MIT subsidy scheme in the Province of Zuid-Holland, which took place in Rotterdam on February 13th.

Preventing one million tonnes of CO2 emissions from shipping – ENERGIIQ invests in We4Sea

We4Sea, a Delft-based maritime startup, has secured new funding to accelerate the development and roll out of its platform for monitoring seagoing ships’ fuel consumption and emissions. Thanks to We4Sea’s software platform, ships can optimise their use of fuel and drastically improve efficiency. The investment by ENERGIIQ, Mainport Innovation Fund II and angel investors was announced by the Regional Minister for the Province of Zuid-Holland, Adri Bom Lemstra, at the Maritime Delta dinner in Schiedam.

More Foreign Companies Invest in Holland in 2018: 10,000 extra jobs

A total of 372 foreign companies such as Giant, Timberland and DAZN generated 9,847 additional jobs in the Netherlands in 2018. Collectively, these companies contributed 2.85 billion euros to our economy. These jobs and investments are credited to the Invest in Holland network, which consists of the Netherlands Foreign Investment Agency (NFIA) – the investment promotion agency of the Dutch Ministry of Economic Affairs and Climate Policy – its regional partners (among which InnovationQuarter), and the Holland International Distribution Council (HIDC). In the previous year, 2017, 357 companies invested 1.67 billion euros in our country.

New partnership between Soft Landing The Hague and FindBrazil

During a signing ceremony at fast growing Tech community The Hague Tech on November 23rd, the founding members of the program ‘Softlanding The Hague’ officially welcomed economic trade representatives from the Brazilian Embassy in The Hague and the representative of FindBrazil.org to partner in this program. Cybersprint raises € 2M in Series A Funding to further fuel its rapid growth

Dutch cyber security company Cybersprint has raised € 2M in a Series A Funding round. The financing is provided by lead-investor Vortex Capital Partners, returning investor InnovationQuarter, and KPN Ventures. Cybersprint will invest the funds to keep developing its product portfolio and team, and continue its expansion throughout Europe.
