GameAnalyze: revolutionizing child behaviour insights through mobile gaming

Story

The founders of GameAnalyze previously worked together at the same mobile application company when one of them came up with the idea of analysing children’s behaviour through mobile games. “Both of us, born in the eighties, were diagnosed with ADHD at a very late stage—over 30 years old,” says Dmitrii, co-founder of GameAnalyze. “It would have helped us and our parents a lot if we had known earlier.”

This personal experience inspired them to create a solution that provides valuable insights for both parents and healthcare professionals. “Look at us now—two years later, settled well in The Netherlands, and ready to launch our product very soon on the market.”

The Innovation

“We realized that many parents have no understanding of their children’s behavior. They simply cannot evaluate whether their child has vulnerable conditions or not. At the same time, according to the research up to 30% do not need immediate intervention”, Dmitrii explains. This insight led to the development of their groundbreaking mobile application, which uses educational games to track children’s behaviour and provide valuable insights. The app helps parents better understand their children and adopt the right approach to their development and well-being.

Settling in the Netherlands

In April 2024, GameAnalyze officially launched in the Netherlands. “I visited the Netherlands over 50 times in 20 years—I love this place!” Dmitrii shares. Their decision to settle in the Netherlands was driven by more than just personal preference. The country offers a strong innovation ecosystem with medical centres, universities, incubators, knowledge institutions, and organizations such as InnovationQuarter.

Despite the challenges of navigating strict medical device regulations, GameAnalyze has found the Dutch ecosystem to be incredibly supportive. “It makes sense; it makes it all logical and structured.”

“Everything is so close. In Leiden, you’re near LUMC, The Hague, and even Amsterdam. It’s tiny, but full of potential. I love the open and straightforward communication—it’s honest, supportive, and welcoming. English is widely spoken, making it easier for us to integrate.” Finally, Rotterdam, where we first landed, was the perfect choice due to its role as a hub for innovation and international connections. “It’s the centre of everything,” Dmitrii adds.

The role of InnovationQuarter

GameAnalyze’s first visit to the Netherlands in 2023 was a short three to four-day trip to explore potential business opportunities. “The first place we went to in the Netherlands was InnovationQuarter. They were incredibly helpful, providing contacts, insights, and guidance on the next steps we should take, and ensured a soft landing. Three months later, we were here with a startup visa.”

“In our first conversation with CIC Rotterdam, we were sold within half an hour because of the straightforward, direct, and concrete way of communication. InnovationQuarter, CIC Rotterdam, and Rotterdam Square supported us throughout the entire process.”

“Parents want the insights as a good starting point for understanding the condition of their children.”

A significant shift to the B2C Market

InnovationQuarter also introduced GameAnalyze to the Market Readiness Program. “When I spoke to Didier Limpens, I knew I was in the right hands. I felt lucky to be among the 12 selected startups out of the pool of 40 interested companies,” he added enthusiastically.

“It was insightful to participate alongside other national and international startups. We are all on the same page. Our mentor, during the program, Amée Leferink, was also very helpful and helped us in looking from other perspectives.”

“The program provided invaluable insights and helped us refine our go-to-market strategy. Initially, we were focused on the B2B market, but the program encouraged us to consider a B2C approach instead. We interviewed over 200 households, and the results were incredible.

Many parents acknowledged having difficulties understanding their children. During the program, you really learn to think from a problem-solving perspective rather than just selling your product. This was an eye-opening approach for us and affirmed the needs of parents, providing a great starting point.”

Looking ahead

GameAnalyze is now focusing on launching in the B2C market while preparing for the B2B expansion. “We already have contacts with ADHD centres and potential investors, but we first need customers. Our 70-page business plan has been called ‘impactful,’ which is great news.”

The founders see a growing trend in ADHD screening, highlighting the need for better understanding and insights. “Parents want the insights as a good starting point for understanding the condition of their children.”

In the coming months, the focus will be on finalizing the product and launching to the B2C market. “In the next two to three years, we hope to expand to the B2B market and internationally. We are excited about the future and grateful for all the support we have received. The Netherlands has been a welcoming place to roll out our business,” Dmitrii concludes.
