Cyber mission Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia

InnovationQuarter, Security Delta (HSD), the Netherlands Enterprise Agency (RVO), and the Embassy of the Netherlands in the United States are collaborating on a Cyber Mission to Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.

The Washington D.C. metropolitan area is notable for its economic significance and ranks as the 5th largest regional economy in the United States. Additionally, it is home to one of the world’s top three regional cybersecurity ecosystems, spanning from Virginia’s Dulles International Airport through the District of Columbia to Maryland’s suburbs near Baltimore.

This region is host to numerous government agencies, a substantial military and defense ecosystem, and significant government and educational institutions, including NSA, Cyber Command, and CISA. The area also boasts a thriving startup and high-tech innovation culture, fostering knowledge sharing, capital resources, and strong inter-organizational connections within the cybersecurity sector.

Program Highlights (October 15-20):

  • Sunday, October 15 – Virginia: Arrival in Virginia and optional visit to the International Spy Museum.
  • Monday, October 16 – Virginia: Session with MACH37, the largest cyber accelerator in the United States, and discussion on cybersecurity in the telecommunications sector with AT&T and US Telecom. Site visit to companies like Leidos/Booz Allen Hamilton and a happy hour with the local business network in Fairfax County.
  • Tuesday, October 17 – Washington DC: Session on US policy and impact, including a presentation from CISA on the implementation of the US National Cyber Strategy and perspectives on the US cybersecurity ecosystem. Panels on cybersecurity in the medical sector and financial services, with representatives from organizations such as Mastercard, GEICO, and CapitolOne. B2B matchmaking and a happy hour with an invitation to a few (existing or prospective) partners or customers.
  • Wednesday, October 18 – Maryland: Site visit to Dreamport/MISI with an introduction to network and services. Soft landing in the US: go-to-market strategy and sales. Session with the Cybersecurity Association Maryland and/or MD Tech Council, BW Tech, and MIC on startup programming in Maryland. Peer-to-peer session with an entrepreneur in residence or relevant company.
  • Thursday, October 19 – Maryland and Washington DC: Session on critical infrastructure and cybersecurity with the Institute for Critical Infrastructure Technology (ICIT) and/or the Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency (CISA). Site visit to Mandiant, a Google Cloud company, and discussions with the cyber team (DMV region, US policy, partnership opportunities). Session with ConnectedDMV/VTech or visit to the Smart City Campus. Option to host your own happy hour around the city, sightseeing, or B2B sales.
  • Friday, October 20 – Virginia: University visit to George Mason University or Virginia Tech (Northern Virginia Center). Session with the TSA cyber team, possibly with the IAD team. Return flight to the Netherlands.

Throughout the program: DC Startup Week – the option to attend sessions or participate in pitching opportunities.
